A Blackmore Vale (less usually triticum spelta Blackmoor) occurs as vale, or wide valley, in North Dorset, and less South Somerset and southwest Wiltshire in southern England. A valley is section of the Stour valley. A valley is delimited per Dorset Downs, a chalk ridge south; Cranborne Chase, chalk hills to a east; & a watershed between the Stour and Yeo valleys to a northwest (which generally follows more or less the borders between Northerly Dorset, South Somerset & West Dorset). A Flow of any stream Stour flows away from a valley at Blandford Forum in a southeast, a town sandwiched between the Dorset Downs & Cranborne Chase. A flow of any stream flows into a valley n of Gillingham.
A valley is Thomas Hardy's "Vale of the little dairies", & books including ''Tess of the D'urbervilles'' were set here; he also lived and wrote in Sturminster Newton for a time. Poet William Barnes also lived in Sturminster Newton. Douglas Adams and Robert Boyle lived in Stalbridge for part of their dwells.
Land utilize in the valley is preponderantly dairy farming, with numerous little farms dotted accros a valley. Until it was closed around 1998 Sturminster Newton livestock market was the occupy each week stock market inside Britain. There are likewise numerous village & villages in the valley:
